Our Philanthropy
Dr. Bas W. Wafelbakker and Dr. Chris M. Anderson are deeply rooted in the local community, and they are actively involved in giving back. They feel a strong commitment to not only serve their patients but also to support the communities in which they practice. And since the majority of their patients are children and teenagers, they like to focus their philanthropy on today’s youth—whether through sports teams, science competitions or school choirs.
While Dr. Wafelbakker and Dr. Anderson nurture oral health every day through their four offices in Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Hollister and Walnut Creek, they also find it extremely important to nurture society in ways that are meaningful. As such, the doctors also provide donations for school charity events in the form of free care. Additionally, every year since 2008, WAO has given $1,000 scholarships to five deserving seniors from area schools (Gilroy High School, Christopher High School, San Benito High School, Live Oak High School, and Sobrato High School).
In 2022, they have doubled the amount of the scholarships to $2,000. While grades are important (a 3.5 GPA is required), the doctors put a lot of weight in letters from students explaining why they deserve the scholarship.
