Braces & Boo! Celebrate National Orthodontic Health Month with a Healthy Smile

braces and boo

Happy October from Wafelbakker Anderson Orthodontics!

Did you know it’s National Orthodontic Health Month? As the leaves turn and Halloween approaches, it’s the perfect time to focus on keeping those smiles healthy while still enjoying the festive season. Here are some fun tips to help you balance orthodontic care with Halloween treats:

🎃 Go for Soft Treats: While candy is a big part of Halloween, opt for braces-friendly options like soft chocolates, peanut butter cups, and plain M&Ms. These won’t harm your brackets or wires.

🍎 Get Creative: Instead of candy, try Halloween-themed smoothies or fruit cups. Applesauce with a cinnamon sprinkle makes for a festive, braces-safe snack!

🧹 Brush & Floss Spooky Style: After indulging in sweet treats, make sure to brush and floss extra carefully—especially around your braces. Use an interdental brush for those hard-to-reach spots.

👻 Beware of Sticky Sweets: Stay away from sticky and chewy candies like taffy, caramels, and gummy bears. They can get stuck in your braces or even cause damage!

👾 Braces-Friendly Halloween: If you’re worried about trick-or-treating, why not host a costume contest or a spooky movie marathon with braces-friendly snacks? You can still have a blast without the worry!

At Wafelbakker Anderson Orthodontics, we’re all about creating beautiful, healthy smiles while making orthodontic care fun for all ages. This Halloween let’s celebrate orthodontic health together—without sacrificing the festive spirit!

Keep smiling this October and enjoy a braces-friendly Halloween! 😄
